The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Issues Statement on Prop 8 Protest.

The Church issued the following statement today:

It is disturbing that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is being singled out for speaking up as part of its democratic right in a free election.

Members of the Church in California and millions of others from every faith, ethnicity and political affiliation who voted for Proposition 8 exercised the most sacrosanct and individual rights in the United States — that of free expression and voting.

While those who disagree with our position on Proposition 8 have the right to make their feelings known, it is wrong to target the Church and its sacred places of worship for being part of the democratic process.

Once again, we call on those involved in the debate over same-sex marriage to act in a spirit of mutual respect and civility towards each other. No one on either side of the question should be vilified, harassed or subject to erroneous information.

Parent Teacher Conference

Leilani and I met with her teacher yesterday for the Parent Teacher Conference. It went great, Leilani knows everything she needs to. All her 6 shapes, her 11 colors, all her letters and can count to 30. She needs to practice her phone number, she has the alpine number still memorized. Leilani has a great vocabulary and uses bug words her teacher told me. Leilani needs to save her talking for recess time. She is at the right reading level for kindergarten and she participates in class. She has 20 words memorized, the memory words, the, here, I, an, and... She is responsible in class for her own things.
She is basically right on track and doing great in her class. She loves school and her favorite part of the day is recess or painting. I think that is about it. The teacher seemed very confident in Lei and happy that she works hard and that her work is always neat. That's out Lei!!!
